The old village of Alonissos affectionately known as Chora.
This picturesque village on the hill really needs to be explored. No cars can access this labyrinth of intertwined narrow cobbled streets, making it a very special place to live.
The Old Village of Alonnisos, Chora, where old white washed buildings creep up the hillside amidst a tangle of narrow cobbled streets and steep steps. Arrestingly pretty stone-built houses with colourful balconies that provide spectacular views across the island especially at sunrise and sunset, their quaint tiled roofs covered by climbing vines and bougainvillea. Numerous pots of geraniums and herbs decorate the streets. In the lanes and squares of the medieval centre there are boutiques, bars and tavernas. Plenty of places to sit and eat while people watching on a warm summers evening. An old stone donkey track leads down to the harbour village of Patitiri.
